Tapered round legs
1.25″ thick Cembalet inspired legs.
Baltic birch ply for back panel and bottom panel – stained black or walnut.
Lid rotates on a brass pin hinge. Pin showcases on exterior side panel. Lid panel is stopped by angle on back panel.
Lid support stand and sheet music shelf – These pieces will fold into the lid panel and rotate/hinge on brass pins and connect back to the face lid panel via embedded magnets.
With the round tapered legs – the width of the piece is ~54″
With the Cembalet legs – the width of the piece is ~56.5″
I am feeling the idea of running a 1/4″ decorative brass strip along the front
Solid Rustic Walnut showcases on all exterior and visible panels… ply will not be visible
This panel is Rustic Walnut – the rest of the piece is premium or standard flat sawn walnut – Rustic is characterized by more grain, knots, imperfections – it is more difficult to work with – and I love it.
The hidden brass hinges on the lid support and music shelf will require the use of inlays to hide and support the pins … so this design would embrace the inlay … also Rustic walnut requires the use of inlays or epoxy to fill knots or gaps. There is space to explore using different types of woods for the inlays.
