• Material shapes the work.
And the work shapes the sound.

At Mars Built, materials are chosen for how they perform under use—how they feel beneath the hands, how they age over time, and how they support long hours of making, playing, and listening.

    Solid Wood, First

We work primarily in solid wood.
    Hand-selected. Grain-matched. Oriented with intention.

Wood brings warmth, stability, and resonance to the studio—qualities that can’t be replicated, only respected.

    Urban Salvaged

Whenever possible, we incorporate urban salvaged timber sourced locally in Southern California. Trees removed from streets and neighborhoods are milled and dried, then reintroduced through furniture built to last.

These woods carry history in their grain.
Variation is expected. Character is embraced.

    Built for Use

Mars Built furniture is made to be used daily.

Desks, cabinets, and systems are designed to hold weight, absorb motion, and support evolving workflows. Joinery is deliberate. Hardware is chosen for longevity. Finishes are selected to wear gently rather than fail suddenly.

Patina is not damage—it is record.

    Material-Led Design

Design begins with material and ends with use.

Proportions respond to grain. Structure responds to load. Every decision is shaped by how the piece will live in a working studio—supporting focus, flow, and sound.

    Local and Responsible

We prioritize local mills, suppliers, and craftspeople whenever possible. Working within regional networks supports responsible sourcing and strengthens the systems that make small-batch, high-quality work possible.

    Built to Endure

    Materials change. Studios evolve.
    The work remains.

Mars Built furniture is designed to live with you—through projects, albums, and years of use—gaining character along the way.
